Student Assistants Wanted for the 99. Glass-Technology Conference

The 99th Glass-Technology Conference / 99. Glastechnische Tagung will take place from 1–3 June 2026 at the Congress Centrum Würzburg. To support the smooth organisation of this long-standing and internationally recognised event, the DGG is looking for motivated students to join the on-site conference team.

What is this about?

As part of the student team, you will be right at the heart of the conference. You will help ensure that presentations, poster sessions and the overall programme run smoothly – and at the same time gain valuable insights into the world of glass research and the glass industry.

The conference is organised in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC. Programme Chairs are Prof. Dr. Miriam Unterlass and Dr. Rick Niebergall, and the Conference President is Prof. Dr. Joachim Deubener,  Vice President for Research, Transfer and Transformation at Clausthal University of Technology and President of the DGG.

What to expect

Your tasks are varied and place you close to the action:

  • Supporting the registration and information desk
  • Assisting in the lecture rooms together with the Session Chair
    – collecting presentations and uploading them to the presenter laptop
  • Guiding participants around the venue
  • Supporting key areas such as poster spaces and the photo box

No previous experience in event organisation is required – what matters most are reliability, friendliness and confidence in interacting with people.

Why join?

Being part of the conference team offers much more than just a student job:

  • Free access to the full conference
  • Direct contact with leading experts from industry and academia
  • Insight into the organisation of a major international scientific event
  • Practical experience that strengthens your studies, CV and professional network

This opportunity is especially valuable for students in glass science, materials science, chemistry, physics, engineering or related STEM fields who want to experience the glass community first-hand.

To ensure smooth collaboration and good preparation, your presence on all days is required:

  • 1 June 2026: Briefing & setup (approx. 16:00–18:00)
